Law and order is necessary 
To live peaceful with purpose 
You accept that daunting responsibility 
And I’m so grateful for your service 

As a kid I watched tv shows like CHiPs, 
21 Jumpstreet, & In The Heat of the Night
I soon realized the bad in the world 
While admiring the good guys take flight

You may have to think like a fireman 
To quickly get people to safety 
Or perform as a paramedic 
When time is moving hastily 

Officers protect the peace of the people 
As well provide for their family 
Everyday they walk out the door 
Hoping they make it back to their family

You get blamed and wear labels 
For the bad actions of others 
Yet you still protect and serve 
Heroic and unbothered

Whether on bike, with your dog,
Partnered, or keeping guard all alone 
Your bravery and commitment is stellar 
And your loving character is shown

Although I could praise you forever
And say thank you a million times
Words can’t show my appreciation 
For how you put your life on the line
